Mental Health Moves: Stretching at Work for Stress Relief
Stretching during your workday helps reduce stress, lower anxiety, and improve mental health. In just a few minutes, you can relieve physical tension, increase blood circulation, and boost energy levels. Some important ones to include are stretches for your neck, back, and wrists. Moving and stretching more can also decrease feelings of burnout and increase focus. Here are some fun ones to try right at your desk!

Neck
Relax your head and tilt to one side (ear to shoulder). Gently use hand hold stretch for 10-15 seconds. Slowly switch to the other side.

Arms
Sit straight in your in chair and stretch your right arm over your head. Gently lean to the left until you feel a stretch in your right side. Hold 10-15 seconds and repeat with the left arm over your head.

Put both hands on a stable chair and step arm’s length away. Keep legs about shoulder length apart. Bend forward and hold stretch for 10-20 seconds.

Wrists
Hold arm straight out in front of you. Pull extended hand backwards with the other hand, then gently pull downward. Hold each for 15 seconds. Repeat on other hand.
